PENNE PASTA
When eaten in moderation, pasta can be part of a healthy diet. Whole-grain pasta may be a better choice for many, as it is lower in calories and carbs but higher in fiber and nutrients
EGGPLANT
Whether you plan to bake, broil or grill this fruit, you'll receive a ton of nutrients and health benefits. Eggplant is low in calories and sodium, and is a great source of dietary fiber, potassium, and B vitamins.
ZUCCHINI
Zucchini is packed with many important vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. It has a high fiber content and a low calorie count. Fiber plays an important role in digestion and may limit the likelihood of suffering from a variety of GI issues.
YELLOW SUMMER SQUASH
Also known as summer squash, yellow varieties of squash provide numerous health benefits. The vegetable is high in vitamins A, B6, and C, folate, magnesium, fiber, riboflavin, phosphorus, and potassium.
ONION
Onions contain antioxidants and compounds that fight inflammation, decrease triglycerides and reduce cholesterol levels — all of which may lower heart disease risk. Their potent anti-inflammatory properties may also help reduce high blood pressure and protect against blood clots.
OLIVE OIL
Olive oil is a healthy fat that contains anti-inflammatory compounds. Using it regularly may benefit your heart, bone, and digestive health and help stabilize your blood sugar levels.
GARLIC
Garlic has been shown to exert cholesterol- and triglyceride-lowering actions,” says Bakko. This leads to overall protection for your heart, including reduced cholesterol and lowered blood pressure.
TOMATO PUREE/PASTE
Although not as rich in vitamin C as fresh tomatoes, tomato paste still provides 3.5 mg of this antioxidant that improves immunity and tissue repair. It is also a source of vitamin K and several of the B vitamins.
BROWN SUGAR
Brown sugar contains slightly more minerals than white sugar but will not provide any health benefits. In fact, your intake of all types of sugar should be limited for optimal health
PARMESAN
Parmesan cheese is highly nutritious. It's rich in protein, ready-to-use fat, and nutrients that support bone health.
